Noisy Festivals

Japanese festival is very noisy and showy. Almost naked men shoulder a big shrine, run around the town and scramble for something which has a tradition that it makes person who get it happy. It is very dangerous and looks strange. Generally, festivals are held in order to celebrate something, such as great harvest in the season, so I can’t connect such loud festivals with the purposes. Foreigners enjoy the strange festivals, but I think they also don’t understand their meanings.
There are reasons for the noisy festivals. First, they show that we are fine. People suffered and perished in plague in a long time ago, so they held the festivals and drove off evil spirit. That people often strip them naked expresses that they are lively. Second, men shows their bravery in the festivals. In the old days, farmers needed strong men to take over the work. The festivals was chance to show how strong men were. Thus, men often scramble for something and compete. Finally, the festivals are entertainment. I think it is the most important reason. They are one of the tourist attractions and participants enjoy them to reduce the stress.
However, the loud festivals make people forget original purpose. To make noise becomes purpose. Actually, quarrel often happen and I can see people riding on the shrine, but it is not allowed. Certainly, I think it is not good, but I also think rules make the festivals lose attraction and dull. We need to remember the connection between the noisy festivals and the origins while enjoying them.

My Favorite Blogs

No.1 904 ★SMILEY★
This blog's color and font make the blog clear and enjoy us. The articles are fulled with some information, especially, the one about New Zealand. It is difficult that we understand all information at once in short presentation, but in blogs, even if a little difficult information, for example figures or statistic, is put on the article, we can look it closely later. It is very useful and impressed me.

No.2 921 L.S.C
As there are many blogs, it is difficult to attract people and have them read one's own blog. So first impression is very important. This blog's letter attracated me. In this blog, many colorful and large size letters are used. I felt like reading it when i saw it. It seems easy, but actually is difficult.

No.3 938 Daily Things
There is calm atomsphere in this blog. In pictures, quiet ones have been chosen. Some people may say it should be more attractive, but I like this mood.

Harvest Moon...Autumn Festival

Harvest festival in England is held in autumn. People appreciates crops in the year to God. The moon which appears in the season is especially called “the Harvest Moon”. A long time ago, when there was not electricity farmers could work all the night under the light of the moon.
By the way, the harvest moon is famous as another event in Japan. People put some Japanese pampas grass, “susuki” and Japanese sweets, “dango”, which is made from rice powder, on the veranda And people watch the moon. I mean, the event is “tukimi”. “Tuki” means the moon, by the way, the harvest moon is called “tyusyu-no-meigetsu”in Japan. ”Mi” means watching.
The two events seems very different, but an area in Japan put some taros instead of dango to appreciate the Harvest. So when you held tukimi next time, how about watching the moon over appreciating it?
