Harvest Moon...Autumn Festival

Harvest festival in England is held in autumn. People appreciates crops in the year to God. The moon which appears in the season is especially called “the Harvest Moon”. A long time ago, when there was not electricity farmers could work all the night under the light of the moon.
By the way, the harvest moon is famous as another event in Japan. People put some Japanese pampas grass, “susuki” and Japanese sweets, “dango”, which is made from rice powder, on the veranda And people watch the moon. I mean, the event is “tukimi”. “Tuki” means the moon, by the way, the harvest moon is called “tyusyu-no-meigetsu”in Japan. ”Mi” means watching.
The two events seems very different, but an area in Japan put some taros instead of dango to appreciate the Harvest. So when you held tukimi next time, how about watching the moon over appreciating it?
